PREPARATION OF ALL CONTAINERS WITH FOAM MATERIAL
All containers to be used the first week (approx. 20) are located
beneath the students individual work table. All are filled with
the proper mechanical aid and floral foam.

These are the foundation upon which floral design is based.
PRINCIPLES: Design. Unity, Harmony, Balance, Proportion, Scale,Focal
Point, Rhythm and Repetition. ELEMENTS: Line, Form, Space,
Texture, Depth, Fragrance and Color. We use the latest textbook
available, "THE ART OF FLORAL DESIGN" by Norah T. Hunter.

Various shapes--- Symmetrical and
Asymmetrical Triangles, Vertical, Horizontal, Round, Topiary,
Pyramidal, Crescent shaped Free-form and Hand-tied bouquets, The
designs are to be taken home by the students for their enjoyment.
Containers to be returned.

casket sprays. etc. Options your customer has if the funeral has
taken place. Maintaining good working relationship with Funeral
Directors. How to handle ALL deliveries (1 hr.)

AND CROSS DESIGNS AND SATIN WRAPPED WREATH
Preparing heart and cross with ribbon pleating. or foliage, or
moss, or bamboo, etc. Preparing wreath with satin wrapping.

Learning the proper techniques for wiring and taping corsage flowers.
Corsages and headpieces designed in the A.M. will be made in SILKS.
This purpose is two fold; to teach you corsage flower placement
with
ease, and also, that you may have a permanent "model"
to keep.

Feathered or Frenched carnation corsage,
Glamellias, Sweet heart rose corsages, orchid corsages. Preparation
for "quickie" corsages, etc.

- INTERVIEWING THE BRIDE
Interviewing the bride, selling. designing. coordinating and servicing
the wedding and the reception. (Class-room time, 1 hour)

THE CHURCH, THE
RECEPTION FLOWERS--AND PARTY FLOWERS
Each student individually designs the following party and wedding
decorations. They spend two full
days (16 hours) completing this list. At this point in time, the
students are each working on a different design at the same time,
the setting being pretty similar to that of working in a large
flower shop. THE LIST: The pedestal and urn arrangement. the basket
standard. the arch candelabra arrangement, the aisle candelabra
arrangement and tie-on, the pew clip-on, buffet table centerpiece.
wedding cake-top arrangement, cake table candelabra centerpiece,
vase arrangement freeform, topiary arrangement. flower girls basket
effect, ring bearers cane. orchid corsage. corsage saddle for
the detachable corsage. bridal bouquet in bouquet holder.
FRIDAY A.M. FIELD TRIP & WORK TABLE
TRIP TO THE LOCAL WHOLESALE
FLORIST
We spend two hours at the wholesale
house, browsing and touring the cooler, becoming familiar with
all the supplies available to us. Upon returning to the school.
the remainder of the A.M. is devoted to completing any designs
not finished on THE LIST. Also, we design bridal bouquets In wet
foam bouquet holders. Novelty designs.
